Advanced Emergency Medical Technologist – Paramedic
Almost ten years working as a pre-hospital emergency medical care provider. Ken was involved in the emergency medical systems while pursuing his educational goals.
This public safety experience has provided Ken with some unique experiences and insights into the public safety needs of the community. In this capacity Ken worked closely with both the police and fire departments in Farmington Hills and other communities. As public safety is a major need of the community, which is provided by the city, this experience will be invaluable as a city council member.
Ken was an assistant professor in departments of Anesthesiology and Pharmacology of the University of Michigan Medical School. In this capacity he participated in the education of physicians and headed a basic science laboratory. He has authored a number of scientific publications focused on the understanding and treatment of heart diseases.
Ken continues to hold an adjunct faculty positions in the Life Science department of Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills.
Ken was a clinical scientist and Associate Director at Pfizer Inc for 9 years. In this capacity he is working on the development of new treatments for heart failure and related diseases.  He has recently shifted to the role of Director of Clinical Operations for MicroDose Life Sciences, a pharmaceutical and research organization located n Novi, Michigan.
Success in this industry relies on team leadership, management skills, and the ability to handle large budgets, interfacing with governmental agencies, the ability to listen, learn and make decisions. All of these skills are used on our city council with Ken.
Ken has background in multiple business areas.  He founded and operates a scientific consulting firm in our community.  He co-directed a venture capital fund investing in promising medical devices and diagnostic enterprises.  He also has experience in the large pharmaceutical industry.  His current position at Wayne State University uses this skill-set in assisting faculty who are starting companies based on their technologies.
